John Scott began his career in film as a camera technician for Panavision right out of San Francisco State film school. He then moved on to a successful career in the Cinematographers Union Local 600 as a focus puller and then camera operator on many features, commercials and television shows.

During his years as the "A" Camera Operator he was given invaluable insight from many successful directors (Craig Zisk, Robert Zemeckis, Joe Johnston, Ryan Murphy, Mark Buckland) on the craft of being a dramatic and comedy film director. While on the 4th season of nip/tuck as camera operator he was offered the opportunity to direct his first out of 6 episodes including the series finale. John's passion for directing shows by his credits. The Office, Glee, American Horror Story, Chuck, Ugly Betty, Good Christian Bells, The Lying Game, Man-Up, Suits and many more! He lends his success to his supportive agent Scott Seidel at William Morris Endeavor.

Recently he has joined with Toronto's production company Wilfrid Park to shoot a Staples "Back to School" commercial campaign.
